March Blog (English)

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to this month's blog.

These are some of the contents I've been teaching during March.

I start creating this blog as soon as the month finishes, so that's why there's a slight delay regarding the blog's title.

This time there's a bit of Blues, Pop in Spanish and Rock.

I hope you enjoy it.

"As the years go passing by" (Gary Moore's version)

This song is a Minor Blues, which basically means it's a Blues in a Minor Key. It has been covered by many artists.

I would recommend you to listen different versions of it, in order to learn new licks and ideas, and also appreciate the personality of each guitarist.

Next you have the chord sequence, chord diagrams and structure. I've also included some scale and arpeggio diagrams.
You can improvise over the backing track using the C Minor Pentatonic Scale and the C Blues Scale.
I've created a backing track for it, which you'll find clicking on the following link:

"Pájaros de barro" (Manolo Garcia)

This is a song by an Spanish artist called Manolo Garcia.

If you already know some of the basic chords, and some bar chords, you'll be able to play this song easily with this video; the chords will appear on-screen.

I also play the Intro Riff.

"New Blues" (Joe Satriani)

This was my very first recording device, and I still have it.

BR-8 Digital Recording Studio by BOSS

I've learned recently that Boss has a software that allows me to convert to wav the audio files kept in the Zip disk used by this device.

I've bought a Zip drive, and from now on I will be able to do the editing and mixdown with my computer.

One of the first songs I recorded was a cover of "New Blues", a Joe Satriani song. I thought it would be a good idea to share the backing track I created, because I haven't seen many backing tracks for this song available on the web or anywhere.
I did the drums and bass programming with this drum machine, also by Boss.

DR-5 Dr. Rhythm Section by BOSS

It would've been easier with a computer, but it also was fun to push buttons.

I've uploaded this backing track to my youtube channel, where I've just created a new section for backing tracks.

Rock Guitar Solo in A Minor

For more backing tracks, you can go to my website. Here is the link:

From now on I will also include demo recordings I've done using those very same backing tracks.

The first recording I've uploaded is a Rock Solo in A Minor. The chord sequence is inspired by the main guitar solo in "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns'N'Roses.

I hope you like it.

Regards, and see you next month!
